Transportation in Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein's transport is built around its efficient bus network, the bright-yellow LIEmobil buses run on the half-hour across all 11 municipalities and link directly to Switzerland's S-Bahn at Sargans and Buchs. A single day ticket covers every ride inside the principality and is cheap enough to treat like pocket change. Buy it on the LIEmobil app or any bus to skip fumbling for coins. Trains don't stop in Liechtenstein, so ignore any itinerary that suggests them; instead, ride the bus to the border stations and change to Swiss or Austrian rail there. There's no airport in Liechtenstein. Most visitors land at Zürich, then take the S-Bahn to Sargans or Buchs (both under an hour). From either station, the LIEmobil bus is waiting outside, a fraction of a taxi fare and just as fast to Vaduz. Don't fall for the "airport shuttle" touts inside the terminal. The public connection is direct, frequent, and included in the same day ticket once you cross the border.
